Reverse Engineering Explained

What is Reverse Engineering?

Reverse engineering is defined as the reproduction of another manufacturer’s product following detailed examination of its construction or composition. Reverse engineering can be incredibly useful in a few different situations. The first is if you have a piece that has broken or is no longer working as it should but is no longer available to purchase. Reverse engineering allows specialists like us to reproduce the piece so that your machine can be back up and running as soon as possible. Alternatively, say you need a replacement part, but a proprietary one is far too expensive. Reverse engineering often allows you to get the exact same piece produced for a much lower price.

The reverse engineering process includes three different important stages. The first is where we analyse the piece that’s to be created and prepare an initial model of this. The second involves ensuring the model is correct and eliminating any potential errors from this. The final stage involves removing any design artefacts and eliminating any errors in the final part of the process to ensure the part that’s created is of the very highest quality and will perform exactly as it should.

As specialists in reverse engineering, we can manufacture products of all different sizes. This includes the smallest of ½” DIA x 1 ½” to the largest size of 500m DIA x 4m. We can also manufacture parts for mechanical presses and parts from broken or worn samples. No matter how worn or broken your item is, why not contact us and see if we can help?
